Even though it is tough, exercise when battling chronic pain is essential. I will give you suggestions for some gentle exercise that you can easily incorporate into your day.

Can Yoga Really Help You Manage Your Fibromyalgia and Chronic Pain?

The short answer is yes it can.

When I first got my diagnosis, I remember my doctor being full of advice. So, you know how it goes – “take this pill, pace yourself and exercise”. I remember thinking EXERCISE???? Really??? I had trouble getting out of bed in the morning.  My muscles ached so bad and he wanted me to exercise!!

Over the years I tried swimming. Worked out at the gym. I walked, even jogged and all of it proved counter productive. I was left feeling frustrated, fatigued, in more pain and concluded exercise was never going to be for me. Right?

Then I discovered Yoga.

How The Power of Positive Thought Bought Me Back to My Yoga Mat

Feel The Fear and Do It Anyway

We have all heard that phrase and others such as “The Power of Positive Thought” but we also know that at times with our Fibromyalgia, we opt to play it safe for fear of inducing a flare.  Often I see fellow sufferers missing out on family events, confined to bed instead of making memories. It seriously breaks my heart as I strongly believe we have one life, it makes me mad that Fibromyalgia robs us of so much.

For those of you who follow this blog or are members of my Facebook groups will know that I suffered a car accident 12 months ago.  The injuries meant that I had to stop a lot of activities which I used as my coping techniques for my Fibromyalgia. Yoga had been my salvation and to not be able to do my daily practice was soul destroying – literally!!
